National Dance Day 2015

About Lisa

Known for her creativity and incredible sense of style, Lisa D lives by the motto "dare to be rare". Born in the performing arts capital of the world, New York City, Lisa was destined to be a performer. As a dancer, choreographer, and director, many have been witness to her fresh style of hip hop and street jazz. A graduate of North Carolina A & T State University, she has spent her post-collegiate years traveling the East and West Coasts, studying at some of the most prestigious dance companies and studios. From New York's Alvin Ailey School and Broadway Dance Center, Debbie Reynolds and Millennium in Los Angeles, to organizations in North Carolina and Georgia. She has had the opportunity to study under some of the industry's most celebrated choreographers, such as her mentors Chonique Sneed and Lisette Bustamante, as well as hold her own reign as Founder of EleKtriK Dance Company. EleKtriK Dance Company which has helped girls in North Carolina to have the opportunity to train with the best and gain the confidence and knowledge to make it in the commercial dance industry. She has also had the opportunity to work with CollectiveUth and teach workships in both NYC and NC. Highlights in her dance career have included appearing as a principle dancer in a commercial for AT&T, appearing as principle dancer in music videos both nationally and internationally, dancer and choreographer for promo tours for BETs 106 and Park and Nike, principle dancer in the opening act of Broadways Hairspray, and winning numerous awards for choreography & performance. Being chosen as an Elite Team Leader of the Los Angeles based dance mentorship program " Creating Opportunities"  has been one of the  most rewarding experiences and thanks to Lisette and Chonique she continues to push to achieve her dreams while continuing to help others do the same.
